Security Forces Recover Arms, Destroy Illegal Poppy Plantations In Kangpokpi District

Security forces conducted extensive search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, recovering a cache of arms and ammunition from Lunkhongjang Ridges under New Keithelmanbi Police Station. The recovered items included 1 Sniper Rifle (7.62 mm), 5 Pistols (9 mm) with 5 magazines, 2 SBBL Guns, 2 No. 36 Hand Grenades, 6 live rounds of ammunition, 2 Stun Shells (Normal), 1 Tear Smoke Shell (Chilli), 1 Tear Smoke Shell.

In a separate operation, a joint team of Manipur Police and central forces carried out a poppy destruction drive in the Y. Langkhong village hill range under Saikul Police Station, Kangpokpi District. The team eradicated approximately 26 acres of illegal poppy plantations.

A case has been registered, and investigations are underway to identify and take action against those involved. Security forces continue their efforts to ensure law and order while combating illegal activities across the state.
