Agartala, January 20, 2025: As part of an ongoing anti-drug operation, the Tripura police led by Officer-in-Charge of Sabroom police station Apu Das seized approximately Rs 7.5 lakh worth of narcotics. The operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals, Vicky Shil and Asim Majumdar along with a significant quantity of brown sugar.
The arrests took place on Monday at 11:30 am at a jackfruit plantation under Sabroom police station in South Tripura district. Acting on a secret tip-off, the police raided the house of Vicky Shil. “We received credible information about the presence of narcotics at the location. Our team swiftly acted on the tip-off and successfully apprehended the suspects,” said Officer-in-Charge Apu Das.
Vicky Shil and auto driver Asim Majumdar were arrested from an auto in front of Shil’s house and brought to the Sabroom police station for interrogation. The police seized 11.430 grams of brown sugar, 1270 taka, two mobile phones, and other items from the suspects. “The seized items and the suspects are currently under investigation,” stated Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nityananda Sarkar. “After their interrogation, they will be presented in the Sabroom court.”
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Sabroom police to combat drug trafficking in the region. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
