Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Japan’s State Minister of Justice, Komura Masahiro, in Tokyo on Thursday. During the meeting, they discussed plans for establishing an industrial park in Assam to attract Japanese businesses. The leaders also engaged in talks about strengthening the cultural and spiritual ties between India and Japan, focusing on the shared Buddhist values that connect the two nations.
Sarma highlighted Assam’s efforts to foster a conducive environment for Japanese investment, including the proposed industrial park. He also discussed how Assamese youth can contribute to addressing Japan’s demand for skilled labor through ongoing bilateral programs.
The Chief Minister’s visit to Tokyo follows the first leg of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Roadshow in Seoul. While in Japan, Sarma also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Edogawa and interacted with the Assamese diaspora, enjoying traditional Assamese delicacies.
At the Advantage Assam Roadshow in Tokyo, Sarma engaged with over 160 business leaders, emphasizing Assam’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and effective policies to attract investments. He also highlighted Japan’s support for key projects in Assam, particularly in urban development, healthcare, and infrastructure.
