Manipur: Two UKRA Cadres Arrested For Extortion; Arms And Ammunition Seized In Kangpokpi District

Security forces on Saturday apprehended two cadres of the UKRA (Suspension of Operations group) involved in extortion activities targeting ex-servicemen in Maunjang Village, New Dampi under Churachandpur Police Station, Churachandpur District.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Thangrengsong Kom (45) and L. Washington Kom (42). Items recovered from their possession include two mobile phones, one wallet, and a catapult.

In a separate operation, security forces seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition from the Nepali Basti, Vietum Khullen-Khoken Village Road area under New Keithelmanbi Police Station, Kangpokpi District. The recovered items included one Heckler & Koch G3 Rifle (5.56mm) with a magazine, one modified .303 Sniper Rifle, one .22 Pistol with a magazine, one Single Barrel Rifle, two improvised mortars, five live rounds of .303 ammunition, two Chinese Hand Grenades and a Motorola Handset (Baofeng).

These operations are part of the ongoing efforts by security forces to curb illegal activities and maintain peace in the region. Investigations are underway.
