Imphal, Jan 30: Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday accused certain politicians of working in collaboration with groups seeking to divide Manipur. Addressing a gathering in Khangabok, Thoubal district, Singh stated that the politicization of ethnic issues has caused confusion and deepened internal divisions within the state.
The CM also discussed the ongoing violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities, which has left over 250 people dead and thousands displaced since May 2023. He pointed out that many people still do not fully understand the complexities of the situation.
Singh clarified that the state government’s opposition is directed at new immigrants involved in drug-related activities, not at those who have settled in Manipur before the crisis.
