Manipur’s Wushu players have made a stunning impact at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, clinching a total of 17 medals, including seven gold, eight silver, and two bronze.
On the final day of the competition, Manipur added two gold and two silver to their tally. Hemam Robinson (Men’s 52kg Sanda) and Yumlembam Echantombi Devi (Women’s Qiangshu) secured gold, while Thokchom Jodajit Singh (Men’s 85kg Sanda) and Hamom Sanayaima Singh (Men’s 56kg Sanda) won silver.
Earlier in the tournament, Manipur had already amassed 13 medals—five gold, six silver, and two bronze— showcasing their dominance at the Kakchenjunga Hall, MPSC, Dehradun.
A total of 39 Wushu players from Manipur, including 20 women, participated in the five-day competition. Wushu has been one of Manipur’s strongest sports at the National Games since its introduction in 2007 (Guwahati). The state has also produced four Arjuna Award winners in the discipline.
In previous editions, Manipur won nine gold, four silver, and two bronze at the 37th National Games (Goa, 2023) and six gold, five silver, and two bronze at the 36th National Games (Gujarat, 2022).
