Agartala, February 4, 2025: A devastating fire engulfed the Tripura’s Chandrapur area of Dharmanagar city under North district on Monday evening reducing 11 livestock to ashes and sparking intense outrage among local residents. The incident suspected to be a case of arson has left the affected family in distress, with demands for justice echoing across the neighborhood.

It is reported that the fire broke out at the residence of Dipali Dhar, a woman who lived alone in her house. The flames rapidly spread to the shed where her livestock were kept, leaving her helpless as she watched her animals perish. “I heard the desperate cries of my goats and rushed outside, only to find the entire shed engulfed in flames. Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t save them,” a grief-stricken Dipali Dhar recounted.

Eight goats and three cows were burnt alive in the raging fire, with only one cow managing to escape. Dhar herself sustained injuries from the heat, as did the suspected arsonist, who allegedly set the fire out of personal enmity. “The fire was deliberately started. It was spread in such a way that neither my house nor my livestock could be saved,” she claimed, pointing towards the possibility of foul play.

Although fire engines rushed to the scene, the blaze had already caused irreversible damage by the time it was brought under control. The tragic incident has triggered anger among locals, who are demanding a thorough investigation and swift action against the perpetrator.

“We want the police to find the culprit and ensure justice for Dipali Dhar. She has lost everything. The government should provide her with immediate assistance,” said a resident, expressing the collective sentiment of the area.

Authorities have assured that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire and identify those responsible. Meanwhile, the local administration is expected to assess the extent of the loss and consider relief measures for the affected woman.
