Manipur Police Nabs Nine Militants, Arms Recovered

In a series of coordinated operations, Manipur Police have arrested nine militants across several districts in the Imphal valley, targeting active members of multiple banned outfits.

Authorities nabbed five active members of the proscribed outfit KCP (City Meitei) from Mantripukhri Thakurbari under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District. The arrested militants have been identified as Laishram Bulu Singh (26), RK Nelson (19), Lairelrakpam Thoiba Singh (27), Kangujam Jebash Singh (28), and Boyamayum Zabirkhan (19). During the search, police recovered a 9mm pistol with a magazine loaded with eleven live rounds, two 36 HE hand grenades, three mobile phones, a sum of Rs. 5700, and a four-wheeler.

In another operation in Imphal West District, police arrested Khangembam Bipin Singh (50), an active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (MC) Progressive, from Singjamei Thokchom Leikai. Bipin Singh is alleged to have been involved in extortion activities.

Additional arrests were made in Kakching District where Pheiroijam Thoiba Singh (23), an active cadre of the banned UPPK, was apprehended from the Irengband Hawairou area. Authorities stated that he was directly involved in extorting money from the general public in Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West Districts.

On Sunday, security forces detained another militant from the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup in the Wabagai Bazar area of Kakching District. The arrested individual, Mayengbam Joychandra Singh (24), is also accused of extorting funds from civilians across Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West.

Furthermore, on Monday, Manipur Police arrested Sinam Yaima Meitei, also known as Chingakpa (45), an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro) from Yairipok Bazar in Thoubal District.
