Mizoram: Dg. Molin Kumar Chakma Sworn In As Chief Executive Member Of Chakma ADC

Kamalanagar, 5th February 2025: Dg. Molin Kumar Chakma was sworn in as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) on Tuesday during a ceremony held in Kamalanagar. Pu Zoramsiama Hmar, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai, administered the oath of office and secrecy.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, MLA of the 36-Tuichawng Constituency, Puhpa K. Hrahmo, MLA of the 40-Palak Constituency, Puhpa M. Laikaw, CEM of the MADC, Puhpa N. Viakhu, Chairman of MADC, Dg. Mohan Chakma, Chairman of CADC, and Shri Devesh Kumar, BJP Prabhari of Mizoram, along with other MDCs and senior CADC officials.

In his inaugural speech, Dg. Molin Kumar Chakma described the event as a significant milestone in the formation of a new Executive Committee under the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He called for cooperation from all political parties, NGOs, and intellectuals to ensure effective governance and progress in the region. He also announced the appointments of Dg. Kalasoga Chakma, Dg. Supan Chakma, Dg. Montu Chakma, Dg. Amit Bayan Chakma, and Dg. Ananta Bikash Chakma as members of the new Executive Committee, with the allocation of other portfolios to be disclosed in due course. Dg. Chakma expressed optimism that CADC would receive crucial support for its development from the central government with the backing of BJP leaders like Shri Devesh Kumar and Dg. Nirupam Chakma.

Dg. Molin Kumar Chakma’s appointment as CEM followed a political reshuffle after a no-confidence motion was passed against the previous CEM, Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, during the Winter Session on 11th December 2024, which led to the dissolution of the Executive Committee. On 28th January 2025, the Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram appointed Dg. Molin Kumar Chakma as the new CEM.

Elected as an MDC from the 4-Bajeisora Constituency in the 2023 CADC elections on a BJP ticket, Dg. Molin Kumar Chakma later joined the Mizo National Front (MNF). Before entering politics, he was involved in social work, notably through the Guwahati Chakma Students’ Union (GCSU) and the Central Young Chakma Association (CYCA).
