Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, accompanied by cabinet colleagues and MLAs, took part in the sacred ritual at Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj during the ongoing Maha Kumbh. The visit comes amid the ongoing ethnic violence in Manipur, which has resulted in over 250 deaths and displaced thousands since May 2023.
In a post on X, Singh expressed his prayers for the “peace, prosperity, and well-being” of both the nation and Manipur. Reflecting on the spiritual significance of the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, he emphasized his hopes for divine guidance toward unity and healing.
Singh, dressed in traditional attire, shared, “With folded hands and a heart full of devotion, I pray for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of our great nation and the beloved people of Manipur.”
The visit, made possible through an invitation from Uttar Pradesh Minister Dinesh Khatik, comes at a time when tensions remain high in Manipur due to the ongoing demands from Kuki leaders for a separate administration or Union Territory. Despite efforts to restore normalcy, thousands of displaced people are still in relief camps, underscoring the challenges the state faces.
The Chief Minister’s message from the Maha Kumbh underscores his ongoing commitment to seeking peace, unity, and prosperity for Manipur and the nation.
