Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has announced a government job for Pynshngaiñ Kurbah in recognition of his outstanding achievement at the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, where he won a bronze medal in canoe slalom.
Sangma took to social media to congratulate Kurbah, calling his achievement an inspiration to young athletes. He stated, “As a token of appreciation, the Government will offer you a Government job under our Sports Policy.”
Kurbah’s success was part of a strong showing for Meghalaya in water sports, as Indra Sharma also earned a silver medal in the same event. Both athletes trained under Coach Ian Vincent and Team Manager Sheela Vincent, who were praised by the Chief Minister for their “unwavering guidance and support.”
The government’s job offer is in line with Meghalaya’s sports policy, which aims to support and reward athletes who excel in national competitions. The recent successes in canoe slalom are expected to boost interest in the sport among the state’s youth.
