Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan has been appointed as the leader of the National People’s Party (NPP) legislative party in the Manipur Assembly, following the recent death of the former leader, MLA Kayisii.

NPP President Conrad K Sangma confirmed Hassan’s appointment in a statement issued on Thursday, acknowledging the untimely passing of Kayisii as the reason for the leadership change.

Additionally, NPP’s interim state president, Y Joykumar Singh, has appointed Hassan as the working president of NPP Manipur, effective until further notice.

This leadership shift follows the NPP’s withdrawal of support from the N Biren Singh government in Manipur last year, where the party holds seven seats in the assembly.
