Guwahati: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday reiterated that India has a rich legacy as a land of knowledge, contributing profoundly to global wisdom.

While inaugurating the three-day Bharat Bodh conclave in Guwahati, Acharya pointed out that during times when much of the world was engulfed in ignorance, India’s sages and saints imparted invaluable wisdom, shaping the course of human civilization with refined values.

The Governor described Bharat Bodh as more than an idea; it is a profound experience that encompasses India’s vast heritage. The conclave, organized by esteemed educational institutions such as JNU, aims to stimulate discussions on India’s civilization, culture, education, economy, history, and scientific advancements.

Acharya urged participants to explore India through an indigenous lens, appreciating its cultural heritage through a mix of intellectual discussions, cultural performances, and exhibitions. He also emphasized that attempts to view India through a Western perspective have led to confusion about the country’s identity, but its essence remains unshaken despite historical invasions.

In his address, the Governor highlighted the importance of ancient centers of learning like Takshashila and Nalanda, which attracted scholars from all over the world. The Bharat Bodh conclave serves as a platform to reflect on India’s historical contributions to global knowledge and wisdom.
