On February 16, 2025, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), conducted a comprehensive review of the developmental works in Lohit District during his two-day visit. The Governor assessed various Central and State Government-sponsored programmes, projects, and schemes, with an emphasis on their implementation, challenges, and progress.
During the review, the Governor highlighted the need for automating data related to government schemes to improve monitoring and management. He encouraged officials to think creatively, engage proactively with the public, and explore innovative approaches to enhance the effectiveness of development initiatives in the district.
The Governor also stressed the importance of supporting the local population, particularly in rural areas, to help them realize their potential. He advocated for the transfer of technical knowledge from Krishi Kendras and research centers to the rural community, ensuring they benefit from advancements in agriculture and allied sectors.
Further, the Governor emphasized the need to connect with the youth and the farming community, asserting that with proper guidance and motivation, Arunachal’s farmers and entrepreneurs could revolutionize the state’s agriculture sector.
In interactions with Gaon Burahs, Panchayat leaders, and the public, the Governor underscored the significance of education in shaping the state’s future. He urged village elders to ensure that children complete their education, referencing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to make students job-ready, particularly in sectors like hydropower and infrastructure.
Addressing the growing concern of drug abuse among youth, the Governor called for a collective approach to safeguard the younger generation. He also emphasized the importance of improving the healthcare sector, focusing on hygiene, sanitation, and cleanliness. The Governor suggested forming a Hygiene and Sanitation Committee led by women to promote better hygiene practices within communities.
The Governor concluded his visit with a tour of Parasuram Kund, a famous religious site in Lohit District, which is being developed under the PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme. Drawing from his experience at the Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh, he proposed measures to improve the facilities for pilgrims and enhance the area’s overall development, linking it to the economic empowerment of local communities.
The review meeting was attended by local MLA Dr. Mahesh Chai, Director General of Police Anand Mohan, Superintendent of Police Thutan Jamba, and various department heads.
