Aizawl, Mar 1: In a successful joint operation, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police recovered arms and ammunition and arrested three individuals. On February 27, based on specific intelligence, security forces launched an operation in Lawngtlai town, Lawngtlai district, which led to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of ammunition.
Another operation in the Saiha area resulted in the arrest of one individual, along with a .22mm Air Carbine and ammunition. The arrested individuals and the seized items were handed over to Mizoram Police for further legal proceedings.
Security forces also conducted search operations in the vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts.
Meanwhile, in Manipur, members of the Meitei organization ‘Arambai Tengol’ surrendered their weapons to the state government following a meeting with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on February 25. As part of a public awareness campaign, 87 weapons were surrendered across various districts, including Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, and Thoubal.
In the general area of H. Monjang village in Tengnoupal District, authorities recovered significant weaponry, including a pompi (likely 84mm), a 51mm improvised mortar, three pompi bombs, and three IEDs, all of which were destroyed in situ.
Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the Indian Army, visited Manipur on February 26-27 to assess the situation along the Indo-Myanmar Border and review border infrastructure projects.
