BSF Foils Smuggling Attempt, Three Held with 100 Kg Ganja Along Indo-Bangladesh Border in Tripura

Agartala, March 01, 2025: In a significant crackdown on cross-border smuggling, the Border Security Force (BSF), in coordination with the Customs Department, Sabroom conducted a joint operation in the Ranibazar area under Sabroom Police Station, South Tripura District.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, BSF troops successfully apprehended three suspects and seized approximately 100 kg of ganja concealed in two light vehicles.

“The arrested individuals, all residents of Sepahijala District, were attempting to transport the narcotics across the border,” a BSF official stated, emphasizing the force’s commitment to curbing illegal activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

In separate operations carried out across the state, BSF personnel also seized contraband items worth approximately ₹57 lakh, further demonstrating their vigilance against transnational smuggling networks.

Highlighting the significance of the operation, a BSF spokesperson remarked, “Our troops remain steadfast in their mission to prevent the smuggling of narcotics and other illegal goods. Such crackdowns are a testament to our unwavering commitment to securing India’s borders and ensuring a drug-free Tripura.”

The BSF continues to intensify its efforts to dismantle smuggling networks and prevent the illicit flow of narcotics, reinforcing its role as a key force in border security and law enforcement.
