A joint team of Security Forces and the Forest Division in Tengnoupal carried out an operation to destroy illegal poppy cultivation on Wednesday.
Under the supervision of Tengnoupal Police Station, the team targeted a hill range in Loikong, Tengnoupal District, and successfully eradicated poppy crops spread over 40 acres. A regular case has been registered for further investigation into the matter.
In a separate operation in Kangpokpi District, another joint team from Security Forces and the Forest Division conducted a similar crackdown at Kotzim.
The operation resulted in the destruction of illegal poppy cultivation over 10 acres, along with the demolition of three farm huts. Additionally, fertilizers and chemicals used by the cultivators were burnt on the spot. Authorities have registered a regular case for investigation in this incident as well.
