Aizawl, Mar 10: Meriam L. Hrangchal, a prominent entrepreneur from Mizoram, received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Women Entrepreneurship Summit in New Delhi on Saturday, coinciding with International Women’s Day. The event was jointly organized by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) and the Association of Direct Selling Entities of India (ADSEI).
Hrangchal was the only recipient from the Northeast and the first Mizo woman to receive this recognition for her contributions to entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment.
A former government school teacher, she resigned in 2020 after 25 years of service to pursue business ventures. She joined Vestige Marketing Private Limited in 2014 and became the first person from the Northeast to be inducted into the Vestige Millionaire Council. She currently leads a network of 1.8 lakh members within the company.
In 2016, she established Edify Kids International Standard School and now serves as the principal of Alpha World School in Aizawl’s Falkland area. She has also received the Best Franchise Award for her contributions to education.
Hrangchal, daughter of former deputy chief minister Lalhmingthanga, contested the 2023 Mizoram Assembly elections from the Lunglei South constituency on a Congress ticket but lost to Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) candidate Lalramliana Papuia.
