Manipur Police Rescue Two Minor Girls; Arrest Two Militant Cadres For Recruitment Efforts

Manipur Police successfully rescued two minor girls from different locations in the state. One girl was rescued from Kakching Bazar under Kakching Police Station in Kakching District, while the other was found in Wangbal Laikon under Thoubal Police Station, Thoubal District.

On the same day, police also arrested two active cadres of the banned outfit Revolutionary People’s Front/People’s Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) from Kakching Bazar. The arrested individuals have been identified as Moirangthem Romen Singh alias Phirepa (23) of Moirang Bazar Maning Moirangthem Leikai and Nongmaithem Mohendro Singh (54) of Kakching Thonglan. Authorities allege that the duo was actively involved in recruiting the rescued minor girls into the militant organization.

During the operation, police seized a scooter and two mobile phones from the arrested individuals. The rescued minors were later produced before the Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Thoubal, on March 9, 2025, for further legal procedures.

The arrests and rescue efforts mark a significant step in Manipur Police’s ongoing crackdown on militant activities and child exploitation in the region.
