In a major crackdown on militant activities, Manipur Police arrested three active members of outlawed groups involved in extortion in and around the Imphal area.

Two members of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) – City Meitei faction were apprehended from Lamsang Bazar under Lamsang Police Station, Imphal West District. The arrested individuals have been identified as Soibam Inaocha Singh (24) and Thongam Deepak Singh alias Inao (36). Authorities recovered two mobile handsets and a brown wallet containing ₹1,100 from their possession.

In a separate operation, police arrested a woman cadre of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK-Pro) from Langol Game Village Zone III under Lamphal Police Station, Imphal West District. The arrested individual, Leihaorungbam (N) Laishram (O) Sanatombi Devi alias Ichal (45), was reportedly serving demand letters to doctors and shopkeepers in Imphal. A mobile handset and one demand letter were seized from her possession.

Further investigations are underway to track down other operatives linked to these groups.
