Agartala, March 18, 2025: In a strong display of discontent, customers from various districts of Tripura staged a protest at the Tripura Urban Planning & Development Authority (TUDA) office on Tuesday demanding action over their long-delayed flats in the Light House project at Border Gol Chakkar area of Agartala city.

The protesters alleged that they were promised possession of their flats in 2022, but even after two years, they remain empty-handed. “We invested our hard-earned money with the hope of securing a home, but our dream has turned into a nightmare. The authorities have not fulfilled their commitment,” said one of the protestors.

Many of these homebuyers claimed they had already made payments in two or three installments to the TUDA office, yet there has been no visible progress. “Despite repeated appeals, no action has been taken. We are left in a helpless situation,” another protester stated.

Expressing their frustration, the customers put forward their demand—either refund the money they have paid to the government or hand over the flats without further delay. “We cannot wait indefinitely. If they cannot provide the houses, they must return our money immediately,” one of them asserted.

The aggrieved homebuyers also met with the state Joint Secretary to discuss the issue and made a direct appeal to Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha to intervene in the matter. “We have faith in the Chief Minister. We humbly request him to take effective steps and ensure justice for us,” said another protester.

The prolonged inaction has left the customers deeply disappointed and increasingly angry. They hope that the Chief Minister will take swift measures to resolve their plight. “We cannot afford to be ignored any longer. We need a solution, and we need it now,” they stated firmly.
