Agartala, March 19, 2025: A tragic incident took place in the North Ramchandraghat Chowmuhani area of Khowai, where a long-standing family dispute took a violent turn, resulting in the murder of a younger brother by his elder sibling.

According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Kartik Munda (30), while the accused is his elder brother, Akash Munda (35). Locals revealed that the brothers had been embroiled in a prolonged conflict over the care of their elderly mother. The tension escalated on Wednesday morning, leading to the shocking act of violence.

Eyewitnesses recounted that during an argument, Akash Munda suddenly attacked Kartik with a spade, inflicting fatal injuries. “Before anyone could intervene, Kartik collapsed on the spot. It was horrifying,” said a neighbor who witnessed the incident.

Following the crime, the accused fled the scene. Upon receiving the information, Khowai police rushed to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy. “We have launched an investigation, and efforts are underway to trace the accused,” stated a police officer from Khowai police station.

Meanwhile, the grieving mother of the deceased has filed a murder complaint against Akash Munda, demanding justice for her son. “I want a thorough investigation and strict punishment for my elder son. Kartik didn’t deserve this fate,” she lamented.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, casting a pall of mourning over the residents.
