Agartala, March 25, 2025: Former Tripura Minister and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Tuesday demanded an inquiry by Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha into alleged corruption and malpractice in the recruitment process at Tripura Central University, the National Institute of Technology (NIT), the National Law University, and the Forensic University.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour on the third day of the Tripura Legislative Assembly session, Roy Barman alleged large-scale irregularities in hiring faculty and staff for these institutions. “Officials are making racial comments against candidates from our state. At Tripura University, the Vice Chancellor has allegedly appointed his son, daughter-in-law, and her friends through illegal means,” he claimed.
Highlighting alleged discrimination, he added, “At the National Law University, five candidates from our state who are Assistant Professors remain on probation despite their qualifications and experience. They have now been directed to continue in probation for another year, which is unjust.”
Calling for immediate intervention, Roy Barman urged the Chief Minister to take cognizance of the matter. “This is completely unacceptable. Our youths are being deprived of opportunities while candidates from outside the state are being favored. The government must act swiftly to put an end to such malpractice,” he asserted.
Responding to the concerns, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha assured that the matter was under review. “I have also heard about it. I am gathering more details. Wherever legal action is required, I will ensure the necessary steps are taken,” he stated.
