Arunachal PCCF Stresses Need For Structured Roadmap To Achieve Environmental Goals

Itanagar, Mar 26: Arunachal Pradesh’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF), Samuel Changkija, emphasized the necessity of a structured roadmap and a robust carbon credit trading system to achieve the state’s long-term environmental goals. He made this statement during a sensitization program on carbon neutrality, organized by the Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited (HPDCAPL) on Tuesday.

The program aimed to raise awareness about carbon neutrality, promote sustainable practices, and explore the state’s potential in the carbon market.

Kishan Prajapati, Associate Director of Creduce Technologies, the key resource person at the event, provided an in-depth analysis of carbon credits, voluntary and compliance carbon markets, and India’s regulatory framework. He highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s significant potential in the carbon market, which could drive green job creation and generate revenue.

Toko Onuj, Chairman and Managing Director of HPDCAPL, reaffirmed India’s commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. He underscored the urgent need for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and outlined HPDCAPL’s role in promoting sustainable development in the state.

Varaprasad K, Assistant General Manager (AGM) of NABARD, also addressed the gathering, discussing the bank’s Climate Change Fund (CCF) and the collaborative role of financial institutions in supporting carbon neutrality initiatives.
