The Clean Senapati River Campaign continued today with a joint cleanliness drive at black spot areas along the stretch from Senapati Bridge to Monday Market Bridge. The initiative, organized by the District Administration of Senapati under the theme “Keep it clean, keep it flowing,” aimed to clear accumulated waste and incomplete areas from previous drives.
The drive was led by Senapati Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, along with Rang David Kung, MCS, ADM/ADC Senapati, Adahrii Maheo, MCS, ADC/CEO Senapati, and P. P. Ronald, MCS, Project Director, DRDA.
Various government departments and local organizations actively participated, including SDOs and staff, Revenue Department, Autonomous District Council (ADC), DRDA, Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA), Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC), Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), Maralui Karailimai Swuijoikang (MKS), Zeliangrong Students’ Union (ZSU), and local youth clubs. Authorities also urged residents to remain vigilant and prevent further pollution of the river.
With around 500 participants, the drive successfully collected approximately 20 tonnes of mixed waste, which was later disposed of at a designated site by Karong Senapati Town Committee.
The Clean Senapati River Campaign, spearheaded by the District Administration, ADC, KSTC, CSOs, and community leaders, aims to restore and preserve the river—a vital lifeline for the town. The initiative promotes environmental conservation, raises awareness, and encourages collective action to combat pollution. The campaign also leverages community engagement and social media outreach to sustain long-term river conservation efforts.
