Meghalaya: BSF Foils Cattle Smuggling Bid Near India-Bangladesh Border

Shillong, Mar 27: Troops of the 4th Battalion Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted a cattle smuggling attempt near the India-Bangladesh border in West Jaintia Hills district on March 26, 2025. The BSF seized buffaloes that were being transported illegally to Bangladesh and apprehended five Indian nationals in connection with the smuggling attempt.

The seized cattle and the detained individuals were handed over to local authorities for further legal proceedings. The BSF has intensified border surveillance to curb smuggling activities.
