Kohima, Mar 28: The State Round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025 was held at the K. Shikhu Conference Hall, Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. The event brought together young participants from across Nagaland to engage in discussions on national development and constitutional values.

Deputy Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) S. Toiho Yeptho attended as the special guest and highlighted the significance of the Youth Parliament as a platform for young voices. He encouraged participants to contribute towards a prosperous India by upholding justice, equality, and innovation.

Joh Makhabo, Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), informed that 643 youths participated in the district-level round, with 150 selected from Nodal Centres in Mokokchung, Kohima, and Dimapur. The top 10 from each centre advanced to the state-level competition.

The competition featured debates on “75 Years of the Indian Constitution: A Journey of Rights, Duties, and Progress” and “The 11 Sankalp of Samvidhan Divas: A Pledge to Strengthen India’s Constitutional Values.” Chagaliu Pamai from St. Xavier College, Jalukie, secured the first position, followed by Yutsula K. Tikhir from Don Bosco College, Kohima, and Songmo Khiamniungan from Immanuel College, Dimapur. The top three winners received cash prizes of ₹20,000, ₹15,000, and ₹10,000 and will represent Nagaland at the National Youth Parliament in New Delhi from April 1 to 3, 2025.

The jury panel included Deputy Speaker S. Toiho Yeptho, Advisor for School Education and SCERT Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, and MLA Y. Lima Onen Chang. Participants also toured the Assembly Secretariat, visiting the Assembly Hall, P. Shilu Library, and TN Angami Botanical Garden.

The event saw participation from students across Nagaland, reinforcing the role of the Youth Parliament in empowering young voices and shaping the nation’s future.
