Gangtok, Mar 28:Yasika Rai from Namchi district won a silver medal at the 8th Elite National Women’s Boxing Championships, held in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, from March 21 to March 27, 2025.

Rai, the daughter of Bhayatri Rai and Mahesh Kumar Rai, secured the silver after a strong performance in the final against a boxer from the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), finishing with a score of 4-1. She advanced to the final after defeating opponents from Manipur, Maharashtra, and RSPB in the quarterfinals and semifinals.

The Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) congratulated Rai on her achievement and credited coaches Mukesh Rai and Subash Tamang for their guidance. The association expressed confidence in her future success and wished her continued progress in her boxing career.
