Sikkim CM Announces Rs 20 Lakh Grant For Monastery Upgradation In Soreng

Gangtok, Mar 31: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang visited the Dodak Urgen Choeling Gurung Monastery in Soreng district on Monday, where he sought blessings for the well-being of the people. During his visit, he handed over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Grant to support the monastery’s upgradation.

Tamang emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving and enhancing the state’s religious and cultural heritage. He stated that the financial assistance would help ensure the monastery continues to serve as a center for faith, learning, and community gatherings.

“Our government remains dedicated to uplifting and empowering religious and cultural institutions across Sikkim. Such contributions not only strengthen our spiritual traditions but also foster community unity,” he said.

The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the monastery and its devotees, expressing confidence that the support would contribute to its development.
