Itanagar, Mar 31: Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein laid the foundation stone for the Integrated Processing Unit of Lohit Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited (LOFPCL) at Medo, under Wakro Circle in Lohit District, on Monday.
The project, developed under the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER) scheme, has been approved by the North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) at a cost of ₹914.75 lakh. The unit aims to boost organic farming, ensure a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, establish market linkages, and promote economic sustainability in eastern Arunachal.
Mein stated that the initiative would empower farmers, enhance their livelihoods, and strengthen organic farming in the region. He also acknowledged LOFPCL’s leadership for their contribution to agricultural development.
The event was attended by Tezu MLA Mohesh Chai, Dambuk MLA Puinnyo Apum, Lohit Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dasula Krisikro, Agriculture Commissioner Bidol Tayeng, Lohit Deputy Commissioner K.N. Damo, and APAMB Managing Director Okit Paling, among others.
