Guwahati, Apr 1: In a significant move to support women entrepreneurship, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMMUA) on Tuesday. This pioneering initiative aims to empower 30 lakh women in Assam by providing them with seed capital to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship.
Under the scheme, women will receive ₹10,000 as seed capital in the first year. In the second year, they will be entitled to ₹25,000, consisting of ₹12,500 as a loan and ₹12,500 as government support. The third stage of the program will offer ₹50,000 to women entrepreneurs who successfully utilize the seed capital.
The Chief Minister also outlined the state’s comprehensive approach to empowering women, emphasizing free education, livelihood support, old age pensions, and free food grains. “With the blessings of our mothers and sisters, we are dedicated to fostering the growth of Nari Shakti, ensuring their well-being at every stage of life,” Sarma said.
Through the MMMUA, Assam is striving to create a sustainable platform for micro-level entrepreneurship and women’s economic independence.
