Kohima, Apr 2: Barak FC made history by winning the inaugural Nagaland Super League (NSL) title, defeating Longterok FC 3-1 in a thrilling final at Chümoukedima Football Stadium. The victory secured their place as the first-ever champions of the tournament.
The high-energy final witnessed packed stands as Barak FC delivered a commanding performance to claim the championship.
Nagaland Deputy Chief Ministers T. R. Zeliang and Y. Patton congratulated the team on their remarkable achievement.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also took to social media to commend the tournament’s success and praised the efforts of the Nagaland Olympic Association and the Nagaland Football Association.
“The Nagaland Super League finals mark a celebration of incredible talent, teamwork, and determination. I congratulate the @NagalandOlympic & @NagalandNFA for their vision, commitment, and hard work in organizing this league. I also extend my gratitude to @IndianFootball for their support,” the CM stated.
He further called on stakeholders to invest in grassroots football development, infrastructure, and capacity-building to elevate the league to national prominence.
