Agartala, April 08, 2025: The Assam Rifles has extended its heartfelt wishes to mountaineer Aritra Roy as he embarks on the final and most challenging phase of his Everest expedition—trekking from Phaplu to the Everest Base Camp, en route to the world’s highest peak.
“With the successful completion of his 1,280 km cycling journey from Agartala to Phaplu, Aritra Roy has already demonstrated immense physical grit and indomitable spirit. We stand firmly behind him in moral and administrative support as he ventures into the demanding terrains of the Himalayas,” said a statement from Assam Rifles.
Aritra’s journey has stirred admiration across the nation. His expedition is not merely an attempt to scale Mount Everest, but a mission to inspire India’s youth to embrace fitness, adventure, and environmental awareness. His determination resonates strongly in Tripura and the entire Northeast, where he has become a symbol of courage and aspiration.
The upcoming segment—through Nepal’s alpine wilderness—marks a critical transition from the open roads to the treacherous trails of the high Himalayas. If successful, Aritra Roy will not only become the first from his state to summit Everest, but he also plans to complete the journey by participating in the Everest Marathon.
“Aritra carries with him the hopes of Tripura. His success will be a moment of pride for the entire region,” the Assam Rifles added.
