The District Administration of Senapati today undertook a major eviction and clearance operation targeting illegal structures and drainage obstructions along National Highway-02, spanning from Taphou Liangmai to Vishal Mall Junction at Rikhumai Taphou.
The drive was spearheaded by Rang David Kung, MCS, Additional District Magistrate of Senapati, in coordination with Adahrii Maheo, MCS, CEO/ADC of Karong Senapati Town Committee. The operation was carried out with the joint support of the Naga People Organization, Senapati District Students’ Association, Senapati District Police, NHIDCL officials, and representatives of the concerned village authority.
Structures falling within the 10-meter Right of Way (ROW) along NH-02—including houses, boundary fences, storage units, and encroachments on cross and side drains—were dismantled. The eviction followed a prior order issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Senapati, informing all residents and property owners along the Liangmai Taphou to Khongnem Thana stretch.
The operation is set to continue tomorrow, targeting remaining encroachments.
In a parallel effort, the District Administration also carried out an eviction drive along the Senapati River, from Mt. Everest College parking area to Kathikho Karong, as part of the ongoing “Clean Senapati River Campaign.”
The drive, aimed at promoting public health and environmental safety, saw the removal of unauthorized structures such as toilets, pig sties, poultry farms, and direct waste outlets. Approximately 20 toilets and their outlets, three pig sties, and two poultry farms were dismantled during the operation.
This action was backed by an earlier order from Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rang David Kung, which provided for the forcible removal of illegal structures, imposition of penalties, and enforcement against improper waste disposal.
The District Administration has appealed to all citizens of Senapati District to cooperate and voluntarily remove illegal structures along NH-02 and Senapati River to avoid further legal action.
