Agartala, April 8, 2025: Tension has gripped the Tripura’s Ghanimara Panchayat Tilla area of Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district after a shocking incident where a housewife and her child were allegedly assaulted by a police officer and his wife over a minor issue.

According to local sources, the victim Rozina Akhter and her son were attacked on Tuesday morning by police officer Sabir Ahmed also known as Liton Majumder and his wife. “We rushed to the spot after hearing their cries. We were horrified to see the child and his mother lying in a pool of blood,” said a local resident.

Upon receiving the information, firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and rescued the severely injured mother and child. “Our team found them in a critical condition and immediately took them to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital,” said a fire brigade official. While the child is currently undergoing treatment, the mother, Rozina Akhter, is said to be fighting for her life.

Police personnel from Bishalgarh Police Station also visited the area following the incident. However, the silence from law enforcement regarding action against the accused officer has sparked outrage among locals.

Demanding swift and strict action, villagers gathered in protest. “If a police officer behaves like this, who will protect us?” questioned one agitated resident. “We want justice for Rozina and her son. The guilty must be punished, no matter their position,” the villager added.
