Agartala, April 11, 2025: In a momentous achievement, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has etched its name not only in the India Book of Records but now in the Asia Book of Records as well. The prestigious recognition was conferred upon the institution at a grand ceremony held at the college premises on Friday morning.
The honor was presented by Asia Book of Records representative and renowned mask artist Sanjay Bholadhir to Ram Prasad Paul, Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly and Dr. Sanjay Nath, Principal of the college. Dignitaries including former State Health Director Dr. Satya Ranjan Debbarma, veteran journalist Subal Kumar Dey, Editor Nabendu Bhattacharjee and administrative head Saugata Pit were also present at the event.
The college was recognized for setting a new record—achieving the highest number of state-wide admissions during the inaugural academic year of any new medical college across 48 countries in Asia. In the academic session 2024–25, the college enrolled students from 21 Indian states.
Sanjay Bholadhir remarked, “In the entire Asian continent, we have not seen such a widespread response in the first academic year of a medical college. Tripura Santiniketan Medical College has set a new benchmark.”
The data highlights this exceptional feat, with 47 students hailing from Tripura alone and others from states including West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi. “This college has now become a mini Bharatvarsha. It’s a moment of immense pride. Just two years ago this was a jungle. Today it stands as an institution of international repute. This is nothing short of a miracle,” declared Ram Prasad Paul.
He further added, “Development does not come from empty words. We must let those who wish to work, work freely. That is the only path to true progress.”
College President Dr. Malay Pit expressed his joy, saying, “This recognition is not just ours—it belongs to the people of Tripura and the nation. It is a reflection of the united effort and commitment to excellence in medical education.”
He emphasized, “This honor will inspire us to reach greater heights and provide better training and facilities to students. We aim to become a leading center of health education not only in India but across Asia.”
The occasion was marked by vibrant cultural performances from students, showcasing traditions from the 21 represented states. Experts believe this recognition will significantly boost the reputation of the institution and attract even more aspirants in the years to come.
