Kohima, Apr 12: In observance of POSHAN Pakhwada 2025, an Anaemia Awareness and Screening Camp was conducted at the Sematila Health and Wellness Centre in Dimapur. The initiative was organized by the District Program Office, Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Department of School Education (DoSE) and the Integrated Ayush Hospital, Dimapur.
The event focused on raising awareness about anaemia prevention among pregnant women, nursing mothers, and adolescent girls. Limasenla Walling, District POSHAN Coordinator, Dimapur, delivered a talk highlighting the significance of proper nutrition and community participation under the POSHAN Abhiyaan campaign.
Dr. Sentila Aier, Medical Officer at the Integrated Ayush Hospital, addressed the gathering on the causes, symptoms, and preventive measures of anaemia, emphasizing the importance of iron-rich diets and iron-folic acid supplementation.
An on-the-spot screening session was held, where 60 individuals were tested for anaemia. Three participants were identified with mild to moderate anaemia and provided with iron and folic acid supplements. All attendees received personalized counseling on including iron-rich foods in their diets.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Limasangla, CDPO Dimapur, who expressed gratitude to the organizing departments and encouraged the community to spread awareness on anaemia prevention.
