Gangtok, Apr 12: Sikkim is set to host the International Youth Conclave at the Yanggang Helipad in Namchi district this Saturday. The three-day event, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, is organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Sikkim. The conclave will focus on sustainable tourism and cultural preservation, highlighting Sikkim’s development over the past 50 years.
Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly, Raj Kumari Thapa, shared that the event will bring together participants from across India, as well as delegates from Bhutan, Iran, and Nepal. The conclave will serve as a platform for youth leaders, tourism experts, and international delegates to discuss the future of tourism and its role in regional development. Government bodies, key stakeholders, and the Yangang Tourism Development Committee (YTDC) are preparing to welcome attendees.
The conclave, under the theme “Celebrating Sikkim’s 50 Years of Statehood,” will delve into the state’s tourism evolution, its opportunities, and challenges. It will also feature emerging destinations such as Yangang, with a focus on infrastructure projects backed by the Union Ministry of Tourism to boost tourism growth.
Rinzing Dorjee Bhutia, General Secretary of YTDC, outlined that the event will include heritage walks, cultural rallies, panel discussions, interactive sessions, and local tourism excursions. Discussions will emphasize sustainable tourism practices, aiming to preserve local culture, heritage, and the environment while fostering economic growth.
