Guwahati, Apr 16: In a major anti-narcotics operation, police in Assam’s Sribhumi district seized Yaba tablets worth around Rs 5 crore and arrested three alleged drug peddlers in Baliabazar area.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday evening. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the development on social media, stating, “Dealing with the drug nexus. Last evening, @sribhumipolice conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Baliabazar where a vehicle was intercepted and 16,000 YABA tablets were seized.”
A senior police official said the seized drugs are valued at approximately Rs 4.8 crore as per Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) standards. The three individuals are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
