A one-day sensitization-cum-awareness programme for District Level Officers (DLOs) and key stakeholders on the Child Marriage Prohibition Act, 2006, and Child Protection was held yesterday at the SDO Office in Machi, Tengnoupal district.
The programme was organized by the District Administration, Tengnoupal, in collaboration with the District Child Protection Unit, and was chaired by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Tengnoupal. The initiative aimed to enhance awareness and strengthen the implementation of child protection laws in the district.
The event was attended by the SDO, SDC, SDPO, members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), and various DLOs. Discussions centered around the legal framework of child protection, preventive strategies, and the need for coordinated efforts to curb child marriage and ensure children’s safety at the grassroots level.
As part of the programme, a poster campaign was also launched to raise awareness about the POCSO Act, the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, and the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. Posters are being displayed in schools, anganwadi centres, markets, and public spaces to promote a safer, more informed environment for children across the district.
The programme concluded with a collective commitment by all participants to ensure the effective enforcement of child protection laws in Tengnoupal.
