“PLOGGING” was conducted by NCC cadets of 22-Arunachal Pradesh (Independent) Company NCC Pasighat as a part of pan India Swacchta Pakhwada.

Officer Commanding NCC Pasighat, Colonel Pratim Kumar Hembrom informed that ‘Plogging’ is a combination word formed from ‘jogging’ and ‘plocka-upp’, which is Swedish for ‘pick-up’. It refers to an emerging international trend, in which someone picks up trash while jogging or brisk walking as a way of cleaning up litter while also taking care of fitness.

As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting and stretching to the main action of jogging, hiking, or walking.
The NCC cadets started from JN College Pasighat covering a distance of 5 Kms and collected 30 Kg Plastics and garbage from public places. A total of 95 cadets from JN College and DEM GHSS Pasighat, Capt. Dr. KK Mishrra, Associate NCC Officer and staff of NCC Pasighat participated in the event. Reportedly NCC cadets of this unit also carried out plogging in other areas such as Mebo, Aalo, Yingkiong, Rumgong and Bilat. Such event will be carried out till Dec-15 next. This will motivate NCC Cadets as well as make the locals aware of plogging so that they can learn the responsibility towards the society for plastic and garbage free environment as well as make them healthy and fit, expressed hope Colonel Hembrom.
