In Nagaland, 92% HIV/AIDS infection is through sexual transmission with Dimapur district being the highest with 5.58% (April 2018-March 2019) and Tuensang district second with 3.32% (April2018-March 2019).

This was revealed during the State Level Committee of Concern and Nagaland State Aids Control Society was held at the Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall on July 5. The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, IAS.

According to a DIPR report, Chief Secretary said that to eradicate HIV/AIDS in the state we need intervention for prevention and to initiate it more seriously. He called upon the members to prepare action plan and submit it at the earliest.

The meeting further discussed on Contingency fund for purchase of emergency drug 1, HIV and AIDS Act 2018, deliberation on the way toward for implementation of the Nagaland State Substance Abuse Prevention And Treatment Policy 2016 and Children living with HIV (CLHIV).

A separate press release stated that the meeting was attended by Menukhol John, Principal Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Dr. Nganshimeren, Project Director, NSACS, Officers of NSACS, representative from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland Board of School Education, Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Department of School Education, Dept of Women Resource Development, Department of Prison, Department of Finance, Department of Social Welfare, Department of Economics & Statistics and NGO representatives from NNaga Dao and Naga Mother’s Association.
