What is your idea of a Romantic Getaway? Is it Kashmir, or Himachal Pradesh or maybe even Kerela? Not all of us subscribe to the typical lovey-dovey kind of relationships. The definition of romance also involves travelling to beautiful places, an adventure away from the maddening crowd. Some time alone with loved ones, in the lap of nature is a kind of a perfect date. Hence here is a list of places compiled by Sisir for ‘Romantic Getaways’ in Northeast India where you would like to take your loved ones to.

It is said that no beautiful thing is easily available. We need to work hard and become worthy for it. This idea is so true for the mountain town of Tawang. Nestled in the majestic Himalayas, this town can be reached after a very tiring journey through the Sela Pass. But once you reach Tawang, you will be enthralled by its natural beauty and the warm and welcoming nature of the people of the region.

Out of the traffic, the pollution and the noise, this is one of those places where you can enjoy some quality time with your loved one. Some long walks with no one to disturb you or simply basking in the sun on the sunny side of the hills are inviting enough.

Legend says that Usha, the daughter of Banasura had fallen in love with Anirudha, the grandson of Lord Krishna after she saw him in her dream. Chitralekha, a talented artist drew a portrait from the description given by Usha and recognized him. This was followed by a great battle between the forces of Banasur and Krishna causing the death of lot of people. Eventually the couple got married and moved to Dwarka, the city of Lord Krishna.

They call it the City of Eternal Love due to its historical background. The cleanest city of the state of Assam, the narrow lanes and the parks all sum up to make Tezpur a beautiful place. A romantic evening in the Usha Udyan overlooking the mighty Brahmaputra is an experience worth remembering forever.

A small mountain town with very less population and an energetic river with extra cold water flowing through the middle of it- Sounds interesting? Well that is Lachung for you. Small houses, few hotels, fresh air and abundant time with yourself. This is also the last place in North Sikkim with proper accommodation and other necessary services.

This is another place of delight for any nature loving couple who wants to get out of the busy city lives. It’s also a paradise for anyone who loves mountain. You can also go to Yumthang Valley or Zero Point from Lachung. Yumthang is one of the Valley of Flowers attributed to the large number of wild species of flowering plants. And since Zero Point is above the permanent snowline, you can find snow or ice all the year round. So if you want to play with ice with your loved one even in the peak summers, you know where to go.

It is the local name for Cherrapunjee, which till quite recently was the Rainiest Place in the World. Although the new record is held by nearby Mousindram, Sohra still receives ample amount of rainfall. Large flat spaces and beautiful valleys with innumerable waterfalls is what one shall about Sohra.

Ain’t it just romantic to go on long walks without any goal in mind, in the rain, under one umbrella with your loved one? If you want to do that, Sohra is the best place to be. There are also a lot of waterfalls and some amazing places to take photos with yopur dear one and make the trip a memorable one.
