The BSF jawans have detained another Nigerian youth from Ishan Chandra Nagar of Belonia in South Tripura along Indo-Bangladesh border.

He was handed over to the police later. Police said that Bake Asoro Washington (37) of Nigeria was arrested at midnight on Wednesday when he attempted to cross the border to Bangladesh taking advantage of the darkness in the night.

Allegedly, Washington tried to run away and assaulted the jawans while trying to snatch their rifles. However, he was overpowered by the jawans, police said. During the preliminary interrogation, he told the jawans that he came from Kolkata by air.

But he could not show any valid documents of his journey. He does not even know the route to go to Bangladesh, said police. However, police is not confirmed about the purpose of his Bangladesh visit.

As many as seven Nigerians were detained in Southern border of Tripura in the past six months.
