Pasighat Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh yesterday launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at the DC’s conference hall amidst DMO In-charge Dr. Tarik Talom, DD (W&CD) Ponung Ering Angu, IDCF Nodal Officer Dr. T. Gao, doctors, CDPOs, supervisors and Angan Wadi Workers, organized by the District Health Society (DHS) in collaboration with W&CD.
Addresing on the occasion, DC Singh informed that the actual motive was to decrease infant mortality caused by diarrhoea adding that useally highest incidents of diarrhoea are seen during monsoon time. She while administering oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc to the children during the launching program has informed that ASHA workers would distribute ORS to each household with children under 5 years and would also demonstrate ORS preparation, along with counselling on feeding during diarrhea and hygiene and sanitation. Dr. Singh also instructed ASHA and Angawadi Workes to deliver their best services to the society with dedication and sincerity. she further assured to visit all Anganwadi centers soon.
Dy. Director, W&CD, PE Angu spoke on the importance of the coordination and support of both AWWs and ASHAs for Zero diarrhoel death and also nutritional status of mothers and children as envisioned under the Poshan Abhiyaan in the district. Angu also asked the CDPOs and supervisors to cooperate with the PLUS programe of the health and family welfare in the district for better coverage of PMMVY.
DRCHO cum Nodal Officer, Dr. T. Gao also briefed on aim, preparation and plans set for the fortnight. Gao also shared some tips on family planning and healthy living.
Reportedly, all CHCs and PHCs of East Siang district also distributed ORS and Zinc tablets to the elegiable children.
