With the rising number in death toll and mass destruction of properties, Assam’s governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday visited the flood affected region of Nowboicha in Lakhimpur district.

After arriving in Lilabari airport he directly went to Nowboicha to access the flood situation there. Beside these he also spoke to the victims about the problems faced by them.

According to the information, Lakhimpur district is the worst hit district in Assam.

Previously on Thursday Union Minister Kiren Rijiju had visited and also conducted an aerial survey of some of the worst-affected districts such as Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Majuli.

Reportedly, the water of mighty Brahmaputra River and its tributaries have destroyed about 1.06 lakh hectares of crop-land, damaged infrastructure by breaching the embankments and overrunning roads and bridges, thereby disrupting surface communication.
