Assamese Movie and Music Industry Needs Best Brains: Zubeen Garg
March 25
15:56 2019

Heartthrob Zubeen Garg in an interview with Shajid Khan in Udalguri district exhorted the youths to refrain from engaging in nasty politics.

The following are excerpts from the conversation.
  • What are your recent and current undergoing projects?
: As I recently released the audio songs of  ’Maa’ album. A complete one with 8 songs after a long gap of 4 years including ‘Nisukoni Geet’; ‘Politics Nokoriba Bondhu’, ‘Aakhore’. The post-production works of ‘Mor Monore Kalpanat’ are going on in Mumbai.
  • You are currently in Tangla town for which project?
:I am shooting for my 4th title song  ‘Mor Maa” from my album Maa here at Jalah village on the outskirts of Tangla town where NSD graduate and actor, Pabitra Rabha has set up his thematical village ‘Amar Gaon’.
  • What is the theme and which are the faces we will see in the video project?
: The core concept as the name suggests surrounds around the mother. Some of the noted names from the Assamese Film Industry Manjula Baruah, Runu Devi, Chetana Das among others have been associated.
  •  As Assam along with the rest of nation is gearing up for forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019 and people are gripped in poll fever what is your opinion as to whom will people vote or what criteria are people looking for in the candidates?
: I will not comment  anything on ‘politics’. I am neither associated with any kind of politics and I abhor politics to the core. Even I have dedicated the song on the theme ‘Politics Nokoriba Bondhu’. People are wise and will vote whom they love and we also expect the Parliamentarians to work for the betterment and welfare of the state.
  • What is your message to today’s youth?
: The only thing I would like to exhort the young generation is to refrain from engaging in politics. They should keep them engaged in productive works and pursue their hobbies to chase their goals.
  •  What is your opinion do you think that the dying Assamese movie industry has witnessed renaissance post-release of your movie ‘Mission China’?
: Yes, Indeed there has been a sea change in the scenario of the industry there have been lots of ongoing new projects and release of movies and even a couple of new cinema halls have come up and it is a good sign for the state.
  •  What are the challenges for the producer, director or actor associated with the industry?
: There are lots of opportunities the only challenge is making of good movies. I have released the movie ‘Kanchanjangha’ on a whole different concept. Jatin Bora starter upcoming movie ‘Ratnakar’ is a good project where I have lent my voice. We are giving our level best for out of box new ideas and themes breaking the conventional and classical ideas which suites the taste of people. I appeal that new faces must come up in the music and film industry to fill the void of the best brains in the sector.
  • It is learned that many proprietors of newly built cinema halls have not received the financial assistance by the state government as promised?
: Yes, I too have come across the fact that the aid is pending and I am unaware it is in which stage. If the government grants it is a welcome step the businessman interested in opening up new cinema halls would be encouraged.
The Assamese film industry should reach new heights and everyone from the government to the common public should join hands for the goal.
  • Thank you for your valuable time.
: It was indeed a pleasure speaking on the topics and a good bunch of queries.
