Late Ketem Yomso Memorial Veteran Football Tournament 2020 organized by Mongol Yomso Foundation (MYF) Smile & no Tears under the Aegis of East Siang District Football Association, concluded with a positive note yesterday on Feb-22 here at the Pasighat Outdoor stadium. Arunachal United Football Club (AUFC) team defeated Eleven Wonders Football Club (EWFC) team by 3-2 goals in the final match. The organizing committee also felicitated the yesteryears players on the day who have represented state several times in national level competition and also who is contributing sports particularly football in the district as well as in the state.

Attending the closing ceremony as Chief Guest, Pasighat MLA Kaling Moyong expressed hope that people would see more fantastic sporting events in days to come. He extended his gratitude to the Yomso family members for sponsoring the tournament in a grand manner to promote sports activities in the district in particular. Moyong while appreciating organizing President and Secretary Dr. Tamang Tamuk and Thomas Ering respectively, opined that due to everyone’s efforts and participation it has been an unforgettable experience adding that everyone would take away some wonderful memories.

“It doesn’t matter if a team wins or loses, you should all be proud, if you played as a team”, Moyong said. Soccer lovers witnessed strong competitiveness throughout the tournament and all teams demonstrated harmonious spirit. All teams were always challenging themselves and put in a strong fighting spirit, said the MLA and further advised the participants to maintain physical as well as mental fitness.

Earlier, Guest of Honour Markar Bam, Chief Engineer, PWD, Central Zone B and Special Guest Tagon Tasung, President, Bogong Banggo Yameng Kebang also spoke on the occasion

Taking privilege, veteran footballer and President of Olympic Association (ES), Tamat Gamoh informed that Doying Gumin Football Training Centre (DGFTC) was all set to start from 1st April, 2020, for 6-12 years and 12-18 of age groups (both boys and girls) and the last submission of the application is 10th March next.

The first goal of the match was netted by Olik Takuk of EWFC which was equalized immediately by Kipa Karu of AUFC in the first half. In the next half, Taja Bonung of AUFC took a lead by 2-1 and that was also equalized by Maglek Taki of EWFC. During extra time play, Olom Darin of AUFC added one goal in 86th minute, before the final whistle and AUFC won the match by 3-2 margin.

Matuni Padung of Pasighat Veteran Football Club (PVFC) declared as Highest Scorer with five goals, while Lenzing Taggu of Eleven Wonders Football Club (EWFC) and Naku Padung of Ledum Football Team (LFT) adjudged as Best Goalkeeper and Player of the Tournament respectively.Best Discipline Team was Pasighat Veteran Football Club (PVFC) with a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-.

Winning team received the trophy along with cash prize of Rs. 40,000/- and the Runners up team was given Rs. 20,000/- cash prize along with trophy, certificate and medal.
