A baby goat born with one eye has baffled villagers in Assam. The baby goat, which was born on May 10, also has only one ear and barely a nose. The eyelashes and eyelids are absent too. As per vets, the animal born with the rare defect called cyclopia will not live long.

The condition called cyclopia occurs in the womb when the brain’s two hemispheres do not separate to form two different sections. While animals with these rare disorders die with hours of birth, this one has prevailed for long.

Mukhuri Das, the goat’s owner told Metro News, “I was shocked. It’s like a miracle and people have been coming to our place to see this baby goat.” Das also believes that the birth of this goat will bring luck to his home. “So many people are coming to our place to see this baby goat. We are happy that it’s making us famous,” he says, according to Metro News.

The “miracle” goat has attracted dozens of villagers, with many even trekking from neighboring areas to seek blessings. Vets predicted that such animals die almost hours after birth, but this goat defied all odds and is still alive.
