Post leading Indian football team for many years, Bhaichung Bhutia who is considered as torch bearer of Indian football in International arena will now be seen in a complete new role during Santosh Trophy. Bhaichung will coach his home state, Sikkim at the country’s most prestigious interstate football competition.

Included in the east zone, Sikkim will have hosts Bihar and Orissa in their group in Patna. Defending champions Bengal are also placed in the same zone with Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Two top teams from each group will qualify for the final rounds.

According to Bhaichung from this year, he has been actively taking part in the proceedings of Sikkim Football Association and has played a pivotal role in organising the local league.

It is to be noted that a few years ago, when United Sikkim was in the I-League, Bhaichung had managed them for a few games at the end of the campaign.
